In October 2025 Blender announced the results of its Google Summer of Code participation, highlighting eight contributors who delivered improvements to the compositor, video sequence editor, edit‑mesh tools, sculpting performance, regression testing, and the Flamenco render manager, many of which are slated for Blender 5.0.
